Welcome in my blog !
First let me tell you that, as it is the translation of a French blog, I use the metric system for my measurements and all the temperatures are given in Celsius !

New category: I tasted it for you. The idea is to pick up random products that are unknow to me, to taste them, cook them, describe them and give my opinion on them.

Enjoy !

Mini casserole dish with potato puree, creamy roquefort with walnuts and pears

Pear is one of my favorite fruits and here is a salty recipe which is amazing! It’s easy and quick, and it looks great in a mini casserole dish!

Ingredients (for 2 people)
3 large potatoes (about 600 g)
2 pears
125 g Roquefort cheese
1 soup spoons heavy cream
Some white wine (about 5-10 cl)
About 20 walnuts

Boil the potatoes for 20 min in salty water, and then peel them.
In a salad bowl, crush the cheese and the cream with a fork, add the white wine and about 15 chopped walnuts.
Peel the pears, cut in dices and heat up in a frying pan in some butter.
Crush the potatoes with some butter and if necessary some warm milk if it is too thick. Add a little salt and pepper (keep in mind that Roquefort is already salty).
Prepare the casserole dishes: a layer of purée, a layer of creamy cheese and a layer of pears. Decorate with walnuts and serve with some green salad.

Bon appétit!!!

Salad "Olivier" (Russia)

This salad is a traditional Russian recipe which is always served on New Years Eve. I remember that, when I took Russian lessons, this salad was mentioned very often in our books! I got curious and found a Russian recipe. Two Russian friends said it was good, so you can go ahead!

Ingredients (for 4 people)
400 g tinned peas
300 g chicken meat
150 g onions
100 g malassol gherkins (Russian and sweet)
350 g potatoes
4 eggs
Mayonnaise (homemade recipe)

Cook the eggs (hard-boiled). Boil the potatoes during 30 min. Boil the chicken during 15 min*, add some mixed herbs to perfume it.
Peel the eggs and the potatoes cut everything in small dices. Put in a salad bowl, add some mayonnaise and stir. If necessary, add some salt and pepper.

*ATTENTION: 15 min goes for chicken. If you choose another meat, the time will be different (for example, 40 min minimum for veal).

Every Russian family has its own recipe as it is often true for traditional recipes. You can add, for example, carrots or apple.

I recommend you serve this salad with blini:

Bon appétit!!
