First let me tell you that, as it is the translation of a French blog, I use the metric system for my measurements and all the temperatures are given in Celsius !

New category: I tasted it for you. The idea is to pick up random products that are unknow to me, to taste them, cook them, describe them and give my opinion on them.

Malabar fish (India)



Malabar is a region in the South-West of India. It is VERY spicy!!! I served it with a cucumber soup to soothe it. I'm not a great fan of fish, but with the spices it is great!


Ingredients (for 4 people)
800 g fish (monkfish)
1/4 teaspoon cumin
1 small piece of grated ginger or 1 teaspoon of ginger in powder
1 teaspoon chilli powder
25 cl coconut milk
The juice of a lime
6 garlic cloves
Some bay or curry leaves
2 onions
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
Salt and pepper

Preparation
Cut the fish in dices, remove the fishbone. Chop the garlic and the onion.
Warm some oil and brown the garlic, the fenugreek, the ginger and the curry or laurel. Add the onions and brown them. Add the chilli powder, the curcuma and a glass of water. Let simmer so that the water evaporates a little. Add the fish.
After about 7 min, add the coconut milk and the lemon juice. Add salt and pepper.
Serve warm with basmati rice.
