With this chapter, I open a new column of this blog, I tasted it for you. The idea is to pick up random products that are unknow to me, to taste them, cook them, describe them and give my opinion on them.
One day, I was looking for some fruits and I found this weird one: so weird that I had never seen it nor heard of it. It didn’t take more to make me curious of it!
I made some researches. This fruit, which looks like a cactus to me, is named Dragon fruit or pitaya. It doesn’t come from Asia, as I thought at first, but from South America. It exists in several colours.
When I opened it, the surprises continued.
I didn’t expect that at all! I thought the colour would be the same inside and outside. The colours are so bright! It is wonderful.
You have to peel the fruit, only the inside is edible. It looks like kiwis in a way, but the taste is closer to watermelons. It is very fresh.
Anyway, it is a funny experiment to do, you always end surprised. It’s great if you want to be original.
Dessert idea: pitaya with Greek yoghurt.
