First let me tell you that, as it is the translation of a French blog, I use the metric system for my measurements and all the temperatures are given in Celsius !

New category: I tasted it for you. The idea is to pick up random products that are unknow to me, to taste them, cook them, describe them and give my opinion on them.

Carbonada (beef with tomato, sweet potato and corn)Carbonada (beef with tomato, sweet potato and corn)



This dish is typical from South America, for example Argentina. The name comes from the fact that the people used to cook the preparation until all the wood that had been put in the fire were completely carbonised. You can imagine that I didn't cook it on a fire on my balcony!


Ingredients (for 4 people)
400 g rump steak (beef)
500 g tomatoes
100 g pumpkin
1 sweet potato
200 g corn
2 bay leaves
2 soup spoon sugar
1 onion
2 soup spoons tomato sauce
600 ml stock
Oil, salt and pepper
Parsley leaves to decorate

Preparation
Chop the onion. Cut the corn in slices, the pumpkin and the sweet potato in dices. Do the same for the tomatoes and the meat.
Heat some oil in a sauté pan and brown the meat, then put it aside. Brown the onions add the tomatoes, the tomato sauce, the sugar, the laurel and the stock. Boil and then add the meat and the other vegetables.
Simmer on low heat for 20 min. Add salt and pepper and decorate with parsley.
