First let me tell you that, as it is the translation of a French blog, I use the metric system for my measurements and all the temperatures are given in Celsius !

New category: I tasted it for you. The idea is to pick up random products that are unknow to me, to taste them, cook them, describe them and give my opinion on them.

Gratin with potatoes and pleurot mushrooms

This is a good meal for cold evenings! No exactly diet approved, but delicious. Let’s see what’s in there.

Ingredients (for 4 people)
500g potatoes
200g pleurot mushrooms
2 slices of smoked ham
150g grated cheddar
2 egg yolks
25cl crème fraîche
10cl milk
Salt and pepper

Preheat the oven at 210°.
Peel the potatoes, cut them into slices, wash and dry them in a cloth. Wash the mushrooms and cut them into bites. Cut the ham into dices.
Heat oil in a frying pan, brown the ham and the mushroom during 2-3 min. Toss.
Mix the grated cheddar with the egg yolks, the milk and the crème. Add pepper.
In a gratin dish, put a layer of potatoes, one of mushrooms and the rest of the potatoes. Pour the cream-cheddar mix.
Bake 25-30 min in an oven. Serve with a salad.

If the gratin gets brown too fast, cover it with aluminium and lower the temperature at 180°. I baked it 25 min in the fan-assisted oven, then 5 min in the grill position to have a nice colour.
